Joining The Google Social Network

Google Social Network

Google Social Network

I’ve had a variety of Gmail accounts for a few years now, but only recently did I join the Google Social Network itself – setting up a profile with Google Buzz.

You can find my profile here if you’re also a Google Buzz subscriber and would like to connect up.

Google Social Network – What Use?

So I set myself up, associated my various websites, uploaded my profile picture and answered most of the profile questions, and it probably took about 30 minutes at the most.

I can see my Twitter feed and my blog history all pulled in together in my Buzz history now, and if anyone were following my feed, they’d be able to vote “like” on my posts, and make comments as well.

Now, I wonder – as a social community with social connections, did Google Buzz catch on?  Or was it all hype and no action?  (can someone who has an opinion leave me a comment?)

Google Social Network – Good Juice.

One thing I HAVE figured out is that being a part of the Google social network is an excellent way to get more “Search Engine Juice” from one of the Internet’s most powerful and trusted websites – Google itself.

Having links to my website, blog entries and tweets from Google.com is useful enough that there doesn’t really NEED to be any other reason for setting up a profile on the Google Social Network.

Setting Up A Custom iGoogle Gadget

Setting up a custom iGoogle Gadget

Setting up a custom iGoogle Gadget

I spent a few hours today poking around on my new browser home page, iGoogle, customizing it, looking at the existing gadgets I could add to my dashboard, removing ones that didn’t work anymore, and I thought to myself…

Why not go about setting up a Custom iGoogle Gadget for WebGrrl Enterprises and her clients?

Setting Up A Custom iGoogle Gadget Is… Easy

Actually, it’s not all that easy. I mean, setting up a custom iGoogle Gadget IS easy to a certain degree, but to move it past that basic degree requires a solid understanding of basic coding principles, at the very least.

After just a few hours of poking around, however, I was able to find out how to go about setting up a custom iGoogle Gadget for my own purposes, and while the gadget does nothing real at this point, I have it on my iGoogle dashboard, and that’s all that matters for tonight!

Setting up a custom iGoogle Gadget for actual USE

That’s what my next stage to this particular project is!
